employees assigned to this job. Performs hemodialysis procedures
that require RN supervision. Assumes responsibility for designated
areas or procedures of technical detail as required. As a CCHT or
CHT, this position includes providing care to dialysis patients as
directed. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring
independent judgment and responsibility as needed. Prepares,
monitors and documents dialysis equipment and supplies. Initiates,
monitors and discontinues hemodialysis treatment as directed. Cares
for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients reporting any concerns
as directed. Works effectively and cooperatively within the
workplace. Location/Department specific tasks and competencies
apply. Essential Functions Operates all assigned equipment involved
in the delivery of dialysis treatment. Perform equipment
sterilization, testing, troubleshooting, and recordkeeping per
established policy and procedure or as required. Cannulation skills
necessary. Initiates, monitors and discontinuation of hemodialysis
treatment. Coordinate vendor communications concerning products,
and supplies. Serves as a technical resource to others. Engages in
ongoing educational and technical development. Utilize materials
and supplies in a cost-effective manner. Maintain in-patient Kidney
Dialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and chronic dialysis department
supplies under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor per
established par levels. Complete Engineering work orders in a
timely manner per established policies and procedures to ensure
optimum equipment performance. Maintain ability to effectively
utilize Microsoft Office (Outlook) and department specific software
applications to perform work. Communicate effectively and
cooperatively in the workplace. Actively contribute to the
achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement
activities. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a
timely manner. Maintain current licensure and/or certification as
required. Attend and actively participate in all department, team
and/or committee meetings. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health,
department and location specific policies and procedures. Perform
other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee. Education High
school graduate or equivalent. Experience/Training Previous
hemodialysis experience and troubleshooting of dialysis machines
required. License/Certifications Current Washington State Medical
Assistant - Hemodialysis Technician. Certified Hemodialysis Tech
(CCHT) or Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) within 18 months
of hire. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare
provider BLS required. Valid WA State Driver's License required.
Other Skills Effective verbal, written and interpersonal
communication skills required. Must be able to effectively utilize
Microsoft Office applications to perform work. Well-developed
problem solving and analytical skills required. AAMI standards
knowledge. Working knowledge of preparing supplies and dialysis
machine for hemodialysis treatment, mixing bicarbonate, drawing
concentrate. Must be able to effectively prioritize workload
amongst frequent interruptions with competing priorities. Ability
to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position (may
include overtime and weekend work). Physical Demands and Work
Environment The physical demands described here are representative
of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform
the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of
this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This
position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending,
kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The
employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing
over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception and ability to focus. Skagit Regional
