Head Start Programs offered by Seattle Public Schools No.
1Coordinates Head Start programs, designed to help break the cycle
of poverty by providing preschool children of low-income families
with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social,
health, nutritional, and psychological needs. The main components
of each Head Start program are education, health, parent
involvement, and social services. By congressional mandate, at
least 10 percent of the children served by the program must have
special needs. Services are available at numerous public school
locations throughout Seattle. Programs are half-day, four days a
week, and full day five days a week. Children attend either a
morning, afternoon, or full day program. Home visits during the
school year are arranged to meet families' schedules.Location: 2445

the website. Children who are accepted for the program are assigned
a school site closest to their home.Fee: None.Eligibility:
Low-income children and special needs children living in the city
of Seattle, ages 3 and 4.Agency InfoSeattle Public Schools No. 1
administers the Seattle Public Schools District Office and is the
central contact office for all Seattle Public Schools. Maintains
information on programs and locations. Educational services are
offered through elementary, middle, and high schools. Gifted,
alternative, special education, and Individual Education Plan (IEP)
services are offered to students.
