Benefit Area, doing business as Mason Transit Authority (MTA), is a
Public Transportation Benefit Area (PTBA) Authority, authorized in
Chapter 36.57A RCW, located in Mason County, Washington. The
service was approved by Mason County voters in November 1991, and
MTA began providing public transportation in December 1992. The
service area is all of Mason County, where road access is
available, with connections to adjacent counties. WHAT WE DOMTA
transportation services consist of Fixed Route local and regional
deviated fixed routes, Worker/Driver commuter service to Puget
Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS) and Demand Response. These services are
provided with diesel and hybrid 35' transit buses, cutaways, and
vans. MTA is currently exploring alternatively fueled vehicles such
as propane, hydrogen, and electric. Facilities include Johns
Prairie maintenance base, the downtown Shelton Transit-Community
Center, and a Belfair park and ride complex. MTA supports a network
of park and ride facilities that are located throughout the County
by managing and providing routine maintenance for locations owned
by Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), the
County or others. OUR MISSIONWe provide transportation choices that

in Mason County.Overview:Under the direction of the Operations
Manager, the Mason Transit Authority's (MTA) Outreach Coordinator
position is primarily responsible for implementing community
outreach, marketing, special events, and public involvement
activities of the agency. This includes planning and coordination
with a variety of external groups individuals and agencies and
requires regular participation in outreach events. The Outreach
Coordinator assists with the development of marketing, public
notices, and rider information and keeps the MTA website current.
This position requires the ability to effectively communicate with
strong writing and public speaking skills, and be highly organized
with a critical thinking and creativity skillset. The assignment of
specific duties to the Outreach Coordinator will vary depending on
the Agency's business needs and individuals' expertise and skill
sets. Outreach Coordinator Salary Range: $26.56 - $36.13 per hour
DOQ, Non-Exempt subject to FLSA requirements. Comprehensive

vacation accruals based on years of service that begin at 3.69
hours per pay period (12 days per year), additional 1.69 hours of
paid sick leave per pay period in addition to the required WA Paid
Sick leave (total 12 days per year), two (2) 8 hour personal days
per calendar year, three (3) days of bereavement leave per loss of
immediate family member, Washington State Public Employees
Retirement System (PERS) plan options, and optional Deferred Income
(IRS 457 plans) retirement plans. In addition, position is eligible
per permitting circumstances inclement weather pay, meeting and
training pay, and education assistance.Position is open until
filled with a first review of applications on January 24th.
Interview process will include a required 5-10 minute mock
presentation on MTA services available.Supervision received from:
Operations ManagerSupervision exercised over: N/A ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide presentations and represent MTA's interest to various
public, private, and community groups as
necessary/requested.Provide travel training to individuals and
groups. Teach community members how to use public transit to meet
their needs, including transfers to neighboring communities.Work
with the Operations Manager to coordinate Agency public relations
efforts with the media and community.Implement MTA's Special Event
Service Policy. Coordinate with event applicants, Operations Staff,
and drivers before, during and after the event. Assist with
writing, editing, and design of internal and external publications,
MTA website, PowerPoint presentations and other visual aids. Ensure
all are in ADA formats as requiredMonitor posted information of
MTAs services for currency and accuracy on vehicles, in shelters,
and on web sites.Coordinate inventory and tracking of brochure and
promotional items and fulfil requests.Represent MTA at various
community organized events such as fairs, expos, and outreach
events.Assist in procurement of promotional and outreach items for
community outreach events.Gather and assemble outreach
data/statistics for monitoring and reporting purposes.Participates
in development and preparation of providing statistics for transit
related reports and documentation. Maintain records and reports as
required by the Operations Manager.Participate in WSTA marketing,
advertising or outreach committees.Contribute to the goals and
objectives of the Operations Team, to include formulation and
implementation of operational policies, procedures, and controls to
ensure safe and efficient operational activities and adherence to
established service budgetary and customer satisfaction standards.
Recommend changes as warranted.Assist the Service Review Committee
with service development.OTHER DUTIES:Develop transit-related
outreach programs and public education/awareness materials for all
MTA services.Assist with ridership surveys and other outreach to
riders as requested.Perform duties in support of ongoing and
special projects.Serve on MTA committees, task forces and other
work groups.Perform other duties as assigned and any duties of a
similar nature or level needed to make MTA an outstanding transit
agency.Assist with uniform purchases and delivery for drivers and
supervisors in consultation with the Operations Manager.Travel with
wheelchair lift equipped van to community groups or individuals in
order to provide travel training on-site, or coordinate with
Operations for coaches if required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &
ABILITIES:Knowledge of: Mason County and surrounding geographic
areas; transportation services and schedules provided by Mason
Transit Authority and neighboring transportation providers;
record-keeping techniques; and general safety standards and
practices.Skill in: using a computer and related software
applications, especially Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel; completing
assigned work within prescribed timelines; communicating
effectively both orally and in writing; establishing and
maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with
others; maintaining records; and analyzing situations effectively
and adopting appropriate courses of action. Ability to: multi-task
and respond appropriately and effectively in emergency and hectic
situations; provide excellent customer service; work independently;
operate standard office machines and equipment (copy machine,
adding machine, fax and PC) changing ribbons, paper and tapes as
needed, operate a motor vehicle in accordance with traffic laws,
ordinances and rules; tactfully and courteously meet and assist the
public; promote good passenger relations; maintain a clean, neat
appearance and pleasant disposition; and make sound judgments in a
crisis situation; read, interpret and follow written policies and
instructions; work and communicate effectively with representatives
from other agencies/districts, and representatives of neighborhood,
civic, business, and other groups; apply risk management practices
at all levels of problem solving; maintain confidentiality and work
with sensitive situations and information; develop effective work
plans, goals and objectives; communicate effectively both orally
and in writing; prepare and deliver oral presentations; and
establish and maintain effective and cooperative working
relationships with others. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:High School
Diploma or equivalent.Excellent communication skills - both verbal
and written.One-year customer service experience.PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:Associate Degree in Business, Management,
Transportation, or related field. Bi-lingual in Spanish.One (1)
year of experience in providing transportation
services.Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office
applications; understanding of the use and software applications to
perform the job efficiently.Experience in multi-tasking, managing
short deadlines and working independently in a fast-paced
environment with strong attention to details.SPECIAL
REQUIREMENTS:General knowledge of Mason County geographical
area.Must be available to work a variety of schedules, including
holidays, days, nights, and/or weekends. Shifts vary in length and
will be assigned to meet business needs.Ability to be sensitive to
a diverse group of individuals, including the elderly and persons
