AREA OF ASSIGNMENT: Facilities Engineering Department
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director, Facilities Management
PREREQUISITES:
1. Associate of Science Degree in relevant technical discipline or
related field (electronics, Biomedical engineering, physics, etc)
preferred.
2. Four years qualified experience repairing and maintaining
Radiology/CT equipment preferred. Experience with equipment from
multiple manufacturers is highly desirable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
2. Ability to follow instructions and specifications in manuals,
and to learn increasingly more complex operations and
techniques.
3. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced
environment.
4. Professional manner and grooming.
5. Demonstrates exceptional communication skills both verbal and
written that will be effective with a diverse population.
6. Personal mannerisms that exude energy, empathy, compassion,
problem solving, and active listening.

CONDITIONS:
Position requires ability to assess situations rapidly and make
appropriate decisions, based on sound judgment. Problem solving and
planning skills essential, as well as, the ability to work in a
fast-paced, high volume work environment. Physical requirements
include: having adequate vision and hearing to perform daily
responsibilities; the ability to lift seventy five (75) pounds
waist high regularity and occasionally heavier items; being subject
to considerable standing, stooping, kneeling and bending; the
ability to work in overhead, stretched, cramped and awkward
positions; the ability to work on ladders and scaffolds; the
ability to wear a properly fitted respirator while performing work;
and the ability to read, write and speak English. Requires ability
to maintain professional manner when dealing with employees and the
public. Regular and punctual attendance is a condition of
employment.
The position requires work to be performed both inside and outside
in all type of weather. The incumbent is frequently exposed to
sudden temperature changes when working on equipment as well as
dampness, water, mud, and fumes. The incumbent can potentially be
exposed to refrigerant burns, infections, chemicals, gases,
bruises, cuts, electric shocks, dust, dirt, and skin and lung
irritation as well as exposure to more serious injuries as the
result of falls or power tool use. When work in a hazardous
location is required, the employee is required to utilize proper
safety clothing, gear and equipment
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

B. Unique Job Functions:
* Adhere to established periodic maintenance procedures and
schedules to ensure proper function of imaging equipment.
* Troubleshoot problems with equipment and related systems.
* Repair imaging equipment and related systems using manufacturer's
technical support as necessary.
* Evaluate repair versus replacement costs.
* Communicate downtime estimates to using departments. Arrange for
loaner/back-up as necessary.
* Maintain adequate parts inventory.
* Document equipment histories in Maintenance Director (software
program).
* Ensure that proper documentation (manuals, warranty...) comes
with new equipment. Maintain associated libraries.
* Ensure proper in-service training occurs before issuing new
equipment.
* Perform document and monitor all manufacturer directed hardware
and software modifications; coordinating such work with Risk
Management/Safety Committee.
* Complete proper documentation of incidents. Identify reportable
device incidents in accordance with the Safe Medical Device Act and
notify Risk Management. Monitor corrective actions to verify
effectiveness of recommendations.
* Assist supervisor to comply with local, state, and national
regulatory standards.
* Identify recalled, defective, and/ or hazardous equipment and
take appropriate action, coordinating this effort with Risk
Management.
* Perform assigned duties during drills and emergencies.
* Assist with projects as directed.
* Communicate tactfully with users of imaging equipment and related
systems.
* Prepare written reports as directed.
Maintain expertise through reading trade publications, formal
education, manufacturer training and participation in professional
organizations.
