Job Description:
The University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of
Medicine, Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology & Nutrition and the
VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) are recruiting a
full-time Head of the Section of Endocrinology based at VAPSHCS.
The Endocrinology Section at the VAPSHCS is a full-service program
and integrated with UW endocrinology training programs. In
partnership with the Division Head, the Section Head is expected to
provide leadership, vision and direction to the Endocrinology
Section at VAPSHCS. As an administrative leader, the Section Head
is expected to be a role model for professionalism, clinical care
and academic citizenship.In addition to the leadership role,
clinical duties include providing clinical care of patients in the
endocrinology clinic and inpatient service. With a strong
commitment to patient care, medical education, and research, the
successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate in
clinical, basic, translational and health services research at
VAPSHCS and the University of Washington. The new hire will also
contribute to clinical teaching through resident, student, and
fellow education. University of Washington faculty engage in
teaching, research and service.This position would be appointed to
the full-time faculty at the University of Washington at the
Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor level,
without tenure due to funding (WOT). Specific rank will be
commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally
described in . Assistant professors (WOT) are eligible for
multi-year appointments and associate and full professors (WOT)
hold indefinite appointments that all align with a 12-month service
period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are
paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June),
meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The position is anticipated to start July 1, 2025 or
later.CompensationSalaryThis position is paid directly by VAPSHCS
and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to VAPSHCS for
information about compensation for this position.The successful
candidate must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), medical
licensure in the state of Washington and Board Eligibility or
Certification in Endocrinology (or foreign equivalent) by the start
date of employment. Must have a demonstrated academic track record
with evidence of publications. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens
