Description:This is a full-time, on-site role.Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA) will provide a wide range of pre, peri, and post-operative care to surgical patients. The NP/PA will participate under the supervising surgeon's direct, general, or personal supervision in the office and hospital settings.Essential Functions:Formulate treatment plans to address clinical issues from patients, office, and hospital staff to include phone, electronic, or face-to-face inquiriesPerform procedures at various hospital settings under physician supervision (direct/indirect) commensurate with training, experience, and/or credentialingOther duties as assigned and requested by surgical team membersAdmitting patients and placing admission orders.Performing detailed History & Physicals.Performing Consultations.Performing Progress notes and inpatient roundingPerforming outpatient clinic examsDischarging patients, placing discharge orders and writing discharge summaries.Initial and ongoing assessment of patient's medical, physical and psychosocial status.Making appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies.Ordering and interpreting diagnostic laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging studies.Developing and implementing treatment plans.Ordering medications and writing prescriptions by word of mouth, telephone or other means of communication. PAs may prescribe controlled substances with a current DEA.Placing perioperative orders.Placing transfer orders.Performing bedside procedures to include wound debridement, incision and drainage, biopsies etc.Complete all documentation within 48 hours of the encounterComply with local billing/coding regulationsFirst or second assist for minor and major procedures/surgeriesWound care: debridement, irrigation, closure, bandagingRepair of lacerations: simple, intermediate, complexNasogastric tube insert/removalUrinary bladder catheterization insert/removalVenipunctureControl of hemorrhageCollection of specimensDrain removalDye injectionsLocal anesthesiaRemoval of foreign bodiesWound vac placement and removalElectrocardiogramRequirements:Competencies:Working knowledge of medical terminologyGood phone skills; outstanding customer service skillsOrganized; sets priorities, and able to multi-taskBaccalaureate Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies or Nurse Practitioner StudiesCompletion of an approved program with 60 hours of didactical training in pharmacologyCurrent WA licensure. Current certification by the appropriate professional clinical association1-3 years of surgery experience or completion of a PA or NP surgical residency programMust have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.Compensation details: 108000-108000 Yearly SalaryPI93ce5f9c836f-25660-36478454
