values.Position DescriptionThis position shares the responsibility
of providing quality medical and performance related healthcare for
student athletes reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine/Head
Athletic Trainer.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Applied Knowledge: Athletic trainers must have knowledge of a
large range of medical problems. Assessment, evaluation skills and
working with other healthcare professionals will be required.
- Decision-Making Skills: Ability to think critically and make
independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment,
rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure
guidelines.
- Attention to Detail: Athletic trainers should be thorough and
detailed with injury tracking and documentation.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in
high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical
professionals, staff and families.
- Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform
multiple tasks with little or no supervision.Essential Job
Functions
- Provide high quality athletic health care to specific programs,
including: prevention, evaluation, treatment, student-athlete
education, and short & long term rehabilitation of athletic
injuries.
- Assess risk of injury; perform ergonomic evaluation and
coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness
promotion.
- Maintain electronic documentation of all patient
encounters.
- Provide athletic training coverage for practices and home and
away contests for assigned teams.
- Coordinate care with Athletics Performance staff on injury
prevention strategies, training modifications for injury or health
and collaboration on performance improvement for holistic and
seamless care.
- Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and
customized preventative strategies and programs to each
patient.
- Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education and
prevention strategies.
- Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for
student athletes with restrictions or limitations.
- Routinely communicate with physicians and coaching staff
regarding the injury status of athletes.
- Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the
sports medicine standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by
Director of Sports Medicine.Qualifications
- Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field and three
years of athletic training experience or an equivalent combination
of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the
essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

- Current Certifications and Licensures:
- National Athletic Trainers' Association membership and be Board
of Certification.
- Adult CPR, AED and First Aid for the healthcare
provider/professional rescuer.
- Washington State Athletic Trainer License (must obtain within 3
months of start date).
- Employee shall cooperate fully and completely with any
investigation of any alleged violation, whether such investigation
is conducted by the University, NCAA or any other duly authorized
agency or individual.
- This position also requires a criminal history background
check.Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years post graduate athletic training experience in
either the collegiate or professional level.
- Experience working with and supporting students and coaches in
high profile team sports.
- Strength and conditioning certification (CSCS or SCCC).
- Salary and final title will be commensurate with qualifications

$54,000 - $65,000Seattle University has provided a compensation
range that represents its good faith estimate of what the
University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The
salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based
on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate,
departmental budget availability, internal salary equity
considerations, and available market information, and not based on
