world.The Department of Radiology has an outstanding opportunity
for a Full-Time Assistant Director of CT Research and
Innovations.This position will contribute to the growth and success
of the Department of Radiology by executing the mission and vision
of the department. This position will provide organizational,
technical, and creative support and leadership in developing x-ray
Computed Tomography (CT) research, innovation, and operational
enhancements in the Department of Radiology. The individual will
interact with a wide range of stakeholders inside and outside of
the department and will play a key role in planning, assisting, and
execution of innovative CT research initiatives resulting from, or
leading to, funding proposals.Essential Duties &
Responsibilities(Other duties may be assigned to meet business
needs.)
- Direct involvement in strategic research projects:
- Collaborate with executing grants and contracts and PIs on
reporting to external funders; assist in preparation of reports as
needed.
- Support and perform research projects in collaborative,
multi-disciplinary teams centered on CT imaging research.
- Develop relationships and manage high-level collaborations with
industry as needed.
- Collaborate with administrative teams to improve financial and
project timeline forecasts.
- Assist in development of funding proposals and their
submission, ensuring efficient and effective completion of the
process.
- Communications:
- Oversee broad communications representing CT Research to ensure
necessary communications occur.
- Communicate with administrators and faculty in other
departments and hospital sites as needed.
- Utilize metrics and oversight tools to measure the success of
the Department's CT research mission and alignment with strategic
plan.
- Ensure meaningful and thoughtful metrics are communicated.
- Partner with others who have responsibility for newsletters,
websites, etc. to highlight CT Research to our SOM, UW, and Global
communities.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Assist with mentorship activities for researchers and trainees
in CT imaging.
- Participate in interview process for research staff
positions.
- Participate in fostering a collaborative research environment
with diversity as a core value.
- The incumbent is expected to continue to grow their own skill
set necessary in their position, contribute to a team atmosphere,
and provide thoughtful suggestions for continued improvement in
work processes.
- Special assignments as needed.Minimum Requirements
- Master's or other advanced degree in a scientific discipline
and 5+ years of related project management experience in a
scientific environment.
- Demonstrated track record of accomplishments in medical
research, including publications, grant and contract applications,
funding, budget management, and execution of projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively and cooperatively with
a wide range of faculty, staff, and trainees on research
projects.
- A deep understanding of the principles of radiologic
imaging.
- Experience negotiating and executing complex budgets and
contracts.
- Experience and understanding of regulatory compliance.
- Previous experience both in direct project management and in
supporting other projects not under direct supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities for multiple
stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and relationship
management skills.
- Demonstrated record of oral and written communication skills
with multiple audiences.Equivalent education and/or experience may
substitute for minimum requirements.Desired Qualifications
- Master's or other advanced degree in a scientific discipline
and 10+ years of related project management experience in a
scientific environment.
- Minimum of 6 years of employment in academic medicine with a
demonstrated understanding of navigating and executing both human
and animal research in an academic environment.Mission and

reports to the Vice Chair of Research in the Radiology
